Freiburg – Leverkusen Preview

Freiburg are getting near a Champions League participance, but they have to finish what they started. Right now the team is 4th in the table with 51 points, but having just two points advantage in front of the 5th RB Leipzig. A win against Leverkusen on Sunday would help their cause big way.

Freiburg are enjoying a solid run of three consecutive wins in the Bundesliga. In their last match they faced Wolfsburg away from home, and one goal was enough for a 1-0 win. It was Maximilian Rosenfelder who scored the winning goal for Julian Schuster’s team. It was Rosenfelder’s first goal for the season – and it was an important one.

What the manager Schuster is doing with the team is impressive. This is his first managerial job and so far he’s proving to be a top coach.

Bayer Leverkusen could officially lose the Bundesliga title this weekend if Bayern Munich wins against RB Leipzig. Die Werkself are second in the standings, but 8 points behind the Bavarians. Sadly, Leverkusen were unable to repeat the success they had the previous campaign – this time Xabi Alonso’s team didn’t show it’s full potential.

Last weekend Leverkusen won, though – 2-0 against Augsburg at home. Patrik Schick opened the score for the champions while Emiliano Buendia doubled the lead.

Viktor Boniface, Jeremie Frimpong, Amine Adli, Jonas Hofmann and Exequiel Palacios are all contenders to start against Freiburg. They were on the bench against Augsburg last week.
